This section provides guidance for working out the grazing management system most likely to achieve your woodland management objectives.

It is useful to divide this process into two stages:

  1. Work out how livestock graze the wood and decide whether it is necessary to divide it into different grazing management units.
  2. Determine the grazing regime for each management unit.

There is a lot of information in this section of the toolbox. You may want to look first at the stocking density calculation template, designed to help calculate appropriate stocking levels. This may help you focus on what information you are going to need most from the toolbox to develop your grazing regime.
