What is the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) register?

The EIA register for The Forestry (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017 shows information about decisions that we make during the EIA process.

How does the register work?

The register shows details of individual cases at 3 possible stages:

1. Opinion

We decide whether you must apply for consent. If consent is needed and the applicant seeks consent, then details of 2 more stages will be shown.

Information about this stage will be displayed for 4 weeks.

2. Scoping

A scoping meeting is held to help decide the issues that must be covered in the EIA report.

Information about this stage will remain on the register for 5 weeks.

3. Determination

We decide whether to give consent for the project after getting the EIA report.

Information about this stage will be displayed for 6 weeks. During this period anyone may appeal to the court if we've granted consent for the project.
